Team Cherry’s highly anticipated Hollow Knight follow-up, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is Steam’s most wishlisted game of 2025, appearing on 4.8m wishlists.

Data from Alinea Analytics revealed that Silksong’s top two markets by wishlists are the US (20%) and China (15%), “with countries like Russia, Germany, Japan, and the UK all in the top 10.”

Analyst Rhys Elliott also confirmed EA’s upcoming Battlefield 6 is the second most-wishlisted game with 2.8m — as well as 657,000 pre-sale orders — with ARC Raiders securing 2.5m prospective players.

Dying Light: The Beast and Borderlands 4 are the fourth and fifth most-wishlisted games on Steam with 2.3m and 1.8m wishlisters, respectively.

“The drip-feed strategy might seem odd in an industry where constant visibility is often equated with relevance, but in Silksong’s case, it has created a mystique,” Elliott said.

Interestingly, the analysis found that while wishlists don’t necessarily “guarantee sales,” on “average, the H1 data shows that games with over 500,000 wishlists at launch converted 19% of wishlisters to buyers a day after launch. Meanwhile, 26% converted a week after launch, and 32% a month after launch.

“The fewer the wishlists, the lower the conversion rates. Or more positively, the higher the wishlists, the better the conversion rates,” Elliott added.
