Epic Games and Unity have announced a major partnership, allowing developers to publish Unity titles in Fortnite.

Revealed today during Unity’s annual developer conference Unite, the collaboration will also see Unity bring Unreal Engine support to its platform.

Early next year, developers will also be able to “manage pricing, promotions, and live operations” with Unreal.

Additional information and product timing will be shared in 2026.

“We’re excited to partner with Epic Games to create more opportunities for game developers around the world,” said Unity president and CEO Matt Bromberg.

“Choice and open systems create growth for everyone in the gaming ecosystem.”

Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney added: “Just like the early days of the web, we believe that companies need to work together in order to build the open metaverse in a way that’s interoperable and fair.

“Working alongside Unity we’re helping developers build fun games, reach bigger audiences, and find success.”

Speaking to The Verge, Sweeney said that this partnership will “greatly expand the developer base.”

He also clarified that there will be a review process for whether Fortnite experiences are made with tools from either engine.

“As this evolves into a completely open system, we’d only have reviews for stuff that we host,” Sweeney explained.

“Anybody would be able to put anything anywhere, and people would be able to browse to it like you do in a web browser today.”
