1047 Games is closing the beta test for its beleaguered sequel, Splitgate 2, on December 4.
Splitgate 2 released in May 2025 amid a flurry of controversy, which included a MAGA-style “Make FPS Great Again” hat and a $145 cosmetic bundle.
Within a month, 1047 Games laid off an undisclosed number of developers, and then a month later, pushed the game “back to beta” and initiated a second wave of layoffs.
Since then, the game has been significantly retuned, with the team regularly updating its players on lessons learned from each test.
Now, in preparation for a relaunch “later in December,” 1047 said it was taking the beta offline. No further details were provided.
