US hardware and software revenue fell dramatically in November 2025 breaking internal tracking records, according to data from Circana.

Hardware spending dropped 27% from $949 million to $695 million, marking the lowest revenue total since November 2005 when it reached $455 million.

1.6 million units of hardware across all platforms were sold in the US last month, resulting in the lowest total for a November month since tracking began in 1995.

PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console, dethroning the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time since its June launch.

NEX Playground ranked third, followed by Xbox Series X|S. Speaking to IGN, Circana’s Mat Piscatella said sales for the console were down 70% year-over-year – an “all-time low” for unit sales in a November month in the US.

Piscatella noted that the last time sales were up for Xbox was November 2021, when it reached 11% year-over-year.

Despite ranking in first and second, PS5 sales were down 40% year-over-year while Nintendo Switch 2 (combined with Switch 1) sales fell by 10%.

Looking at physical software, sales fell 14% year-over-year which is another all-time low since tracking began in 1995.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was the best-selling game of November, marking the 18th consecutive year that the franchise has debuted at No.1 during its release month.

It has become the 7th best-selling game of 2025 to date, but the franchise experienced a double-digit percentage sales decline when compared to November last year.

Overall, US content spending rose 1% year-over-year to $4.8 billion.

There was a 16% increase in subscription spending and a 2% growth in mobile. These numbers offset declines in console and PC content spending.

Here are the top 20 selling games from the period November 2, 2025 to November 29, 2025, data courtesy of Circana:
