Valve has once again exceeded its own concurrent record for its digital games storefront and client, Steam.

As reported by Steam tracker SteamDB, the client exceeded 42 million simultaneous users yesterday, January 11, the highest number of concurrent players on record. That’s up from the prior record of 41,816,052 users set two months ago.

Of the 42,042,778 users logged into the client when the record was set, 13,119,473 were actively playing a game at the time.

By comparison, Roblox’s all-time peak player concurrent count was set over the summer (Q2 2024) with around 68 million over the summer.

Earlier today, we shared our interview with GOG’s new owner Michał Kiciński and GOG’s managing director Maciej Gołębiewski to find out more about taking on Steam, the devil of DRM, and following in Nightdive’s footsteps.
