Ubisoft has confirmed the loss of 29 roles at its Abu Dhabi office in the United Arab Emirates, after affected staff posted on LinkedIn.

The posts, spotted by Game Developer, came from three staff members working across social media, game support and art direction, referring to a restructuring in late 2025. Ubisoft has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the layoffs took place in November.

“In November, Ubisoft made the difficult decision to restructure its Abu Dhabi mobile studio, discontinuing some projects in order to focus on Growtopia,” the company said in a statement. “As a result, this change impacted 29 team members. We remain deeply grateful for their contributions and are providing support to them throughout the transition.”

Ubisoft Abu Dhabi was opened in 2011 and serves as the company’s regional hub, and chiefly works on Growtopia, a free-to-play MMO which the company acquired in 2017. The studio has also worked on other mobile titles, most notably based on the CSI licence.

The news is the latest in an extensive list of job losses announced by the company, following the announcement of cuts at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm yesterday, and the closure of Ubisoft Halifax last week. The company previously stated it will announce details of its restructuring into Creative Houses this month, the first of which is a new Tencent-backed new entity called Vantage Studios which will serve as the home of the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six and Far Cry franchises.
