Australia-based mobile studio Halfbrick has cut 41 roles and ended “a number of engagements internationally.”

In a statement on LinkedIn, the Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride developer said it “had to make some hard choices” about how to move forward during “a challenging period for the games industry.” The company subsequently confirmed to MobileGamer.biz that 41 jobs would be lost in the process.

“These changes are driven by organisational and strategic priorities, not individual performance,” it said. “The people affected by this decision have made meaningful contributions to Halfbrick. They have helped shape our games, supported our players, and been an important part of this studio. We are sincerely grateful for everything they have brought to the company.”

The statement continued: “To everyone impacted, thank you. Your work has mattered here, and we are better for having had the chance to work with you.”

“Our focus right now is on handling this transition with care, respect, and genuine appreciation for the people who have contributed so much to Halfbrick.”

Halfbrick launched its latest title, Bluey’s Quest for the Gold Pen, on iOS in December 2025 and on Android in January 2026. Console and PC versions are expected to release on May 28, 2026.

In 2018, reports surfaced that Halfbrick had laid off more than half its staff, leaving fewer than 30 employees.

It was said that those who remained were solely focused on live operations for Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride.
