Sony has reportedly decided to pull back from releasing PlayStation 5 exclusives on PC.

Sources “familiar with the company’s plans” told Bloomberg that PS5 games have not sold well on the platform. They also said PC ports “risk damaging the console’s brand and could hurt sales of the PS5 and its successors.”

A spokesperson for PlayStation declined to provide comment to Bloomberg.

Online games, including Marathon and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, are still expected to launch across multiple platforms.

Sony previously published Helldivers 2 on PC at launch, unlike its single-player titles, which have longer periods of exclusivity.

Ghost of Yōtei and Housemarque’s upcoming action title Saros are reportedly staying exclusive to PS5. However, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora are said to be scheduled for PC ports.

Sony began bringing major franchises to PC via Steam in 2020, including God of War and The Last of Us.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut launched on PC in 2024, and was the first PlayStation game to utilise features including trophies, PSN profiles, and friends lists via a PS overlay.

There was backlash over PSN connectivity for the PC port of Helldivers 2 in 2024, and Sony eventually backtracked on this requirement.

Last month, reports surfaced that Sony may delay the rollout of its next-generation console to 2028 or 2029 due to the ongoing AI-driven memory shortage crisis.
