The creator of RPG Chained Echoes is suing publisher First Press Games for failing to release the physical editions promised to its Kickstarter backers.

Developer Matthias Linda said the “decision wasn’t easy and came after careful consideration,” but did confirm to backers that they were “preparing a lawsuit.”

“It’s been a bit over two years since the physical copies were supposed to be released by First Press Games, and so far in 2026, nothing has arrived except the regular PlayStation 4 edition. Because of that, I had to make a decision,” Linda wrote.

“I am terminating my business relationship with FPG, and I am preparing a lawsuit. This decision wasn’t easy and came after careful consideration. Please understand that for legal reasons I can not go into further details.”

Linda said their focus now was to get physical editions out to Kickstarter backers via an alternate publisher, or issue refunds to players who pledged support back in 2019.

“If you decide to choose the first option, you may have to wait again,” Linda warned. “It is possible that new versions can only be produced once the lawsuit is over but we are looking into that option. You can get your refund anytime though. Rest assured.”

Linda ended the post writing: “I understand that a lot of people are frustrated with the situation, the long waiting time, and the vague information. I’m very sorry for the circumstances.”

GamesIndustry.biz has written to First Press Games for comment and will update should we receive a response.
