Microsoft’s Gaming Copilot AI assistant will be available on current-gen Xbox consoles this year.

At last week’s GDC Festival of Gaming (via GamesRadar), Xbox product manager for gaming AI Sonali Yadav said Gaming Copilot will “come to more services that players are playing.”

The program launched in beta last year on PC, mobile, and the ROG Xbox Ally.

Gaming Copilot was revealed in 2024, when it was added to Minecraft. It lets players ask an AI assistant for help when stuck, offering tips and strategies. The program can also give game recommendations and information about a player’s gaming history.

Microsoft announced beta testing of the feature in May 2025. The broader Copilot program at Microsoft launched in 2023.

Last month, new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma pledged there would be “no bad AI” at Xbox during her tenure.

In an internal memo, she said the platform holder will “not chase short-term efficiency or flood our ecosystem with soulless AI slop.”

Sharma and Xbox CCO Matt Booty also clarified that the firm is facing “no pressure from Microsoft” to use AI.

“Our teams are free to use any technologies that might be beneficial, whether it’s helping write code or check for bugs – things more in the production pipeline,” said Booty. “At the end of the day, as Asha said, we’re committed to art made by people. Technology is only in support of that.”
