Z-A Is Discounted in Target’s Switch 2 Spring Sale
SHARE

Target is offering a rare ‘Buy 2, Save $30’ sale on popular new Switch games. The promotion is running from now until April 4 and includes quite a few first-party Switch 2 games like Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and my personal top pick: Pokémon Legends: Z-A. To get the discount, you just need to add two eligible items to your cart and be a Target Circle member (which is free).

Pokémon Legends: Z-A came out in October of 2025 and was a day one purchase for me. I’ve been a fan of Pokémon games since back in the Game Boy days and have played every mainline entry so far. Legends: Z-A was my favorite new Pokémon game in the Switch generation when it first came out, though admittedly it’s been overshadowed by Pokémon Pokopia for me this year. Unfortunately, that game is not included in Target’s sale.

Both the Switch 2 and Switch 1 versions of the game are included in this sale, with the latter being $10 cheaper. IGN had the chance to compare performance on both versions when the game first came out and found the Switch 1 version surprisingly palatable. And now that the latest Switch 2 update added Handheld Mode Boost for Switch 1 titles, you may want to consider picking up that version for the added savings.

What we said in our review

IGN reviewed this game when it first came out and gave it a solid 8 out of 10 in our review. Here’s a quick snippet of our thoughts:

“Pokémon Legends: Z-A finally feels like Game Freak hitting its stride in Pokémon’s 3D era. Lumiose City may not be visually exciting, but exciting Pokemon encounters, well-written characters, and amusing side quests still make it fun to explore while also serving as the ideal vehicle for a more intimate and emotionally mature Pokémon story. Z-A’s total battle system overhaul from turn-based to action also works surprisingly well, managing to be intuitive for series veterans and engaging to play casually while introducing all sorts of intriguing possibilities for deeper, competitive play. And while Z-A could use a little performance help on the Switch 1, it’s a marked improvement from its predecessors and significantly better if you’re playing on Switch 2. After several years running of putting the controller down with a deep sigh at the end of a Pokémon review, it sure is refreshing to once again be excited to keep playing for hours more.” – Rebekah Valentine

More Switch 2 Games Included in the Sale

You do need to purchase two games to get the $30 off, but thankfully there are some great options available that haven’t really been discounted since launch. Donkey Kong Bananza is included here, which was actually the only game IGN gave a perfect 10 out of 10 last year.
