Fortnite has agreed to refund any player who purchased an item connected to alleged child abuser and murderer, D4vd.

David Anthony Burke, the singer known as D4vd, was charged this week with the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. He has also been charged with possessing a “significant amount” of child pornography. Burke has pleaded not guilty.

According to The Guardian, Burke has been charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances of lying in wait. It’s alleged that he killed the child after she threatened to report their sexual relationship.

The performer began sharing his music by uploading it alongside his Fortnite montages, and was later immortalized in the game via cosmetics, emotes, and two jam packs. His track, Locked and Loaded, was also named as an official Fortnite anthem.

Now, in response to the charges, Fortnite maker Epic Games has confirmed that any cosmetics items purchased in the D4vd collaboration can expect an “immediate self-service refund” from tomorrow, April 28.

“We hear the concerns,” Epic wrote on Twitter/X. “We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time.

“The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded.”

As yet, however, the developer has not committed to removing the cosmetics from the game entirely.
