Roblox reports strong Q1 growth, revises full-year forecast due to new safety measures

Roblox reported strong first-quarter revenue and bookings growth in its latest financial results. However, the company lowered its annual growth outlook due to mandatory age checks and new safety measures.

The numbers

  • Revenue: $1.4 billion (up 39%)
  • Bookings: $1.7 billion (up 43%)
  • Net losses: $248 million compared to $216 million during the same quarter last year

The highlights

Roblox reported strong user and engagement growth in the first quarter. Average daily active users (DAUs) rose 35% year-over-year to 132 million, and monthly unique payers increased 52% to 31 million. Total hours engaged grew 43% to 31 billion.

Roblox highlighted the impact of its mandatory age checks, introduced in November and expanded globally in January. Last month, it launched age-based accounts and improved parental controls to build age-appropriate experiences for all, with full implementation expected in June.

Shortly after, Roblox agreed to pay over $12 million to the state of Nevada as part of a settlement that requires additional child-safety measures, including enhanced age verification for all users nationwide.

As a result, Roblox reduced its growth outlook for 2026. The company now expects full-year bookings growth of 8% to 12% and revenue growth of 20% to 25%.

Following the introduction of age checks, Roblox reported that users aged 18 and older accounted for 26% of verified DAUs. In the US, DAUs and hours played for the 18-34 age group rose 50% year-over-year in Q1, surpassing all other cohorts.

Roblox aims to expand its 18+ audience through new developer programs that support “ambitious creators eager to build and scale” on the platform.

Roblox also announced a 42% increase in its Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate, effective in June, for spending by age-verified US players 18 and older on eligible games.

Yesterday, Roblox launched its new subscription service, Roblox Plus, after announcing it in early April. The service offers discounts on in-game items and avatars, plus other unspecified benefits, for $5 per month.

“Q1 2026 was another strong quarter of growth,” said Roblox CEO David Baszucki.

“We are continuing to make great strides on the key growth levers that power our vision of building a human co-experience platform that connects one billion users every day with safety and civility while setting the Global Standard for healthy, safe, and age-appropriate digital engagement.
