Following the news that Nintendo will be charging different prices for upcoming physical and digital Switch 2 games, Amazon is joining Walmart in rebelling against the idea by offering $10 discounts on physical preorders for both Splatoon Raiders and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. That’s a nice little win for Switch 2 owners.

Rather than costing $59.99 for its physical version, Splatoon Raiders is on sale at Amazon for $49.94 right now. Meanwhile, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is down to $59.88, ten bucks less than Nintendo’s price of $69.99. There’s no knowing how long these deals will last, though, so best to jump on them now before they disappear.

If this news about Nintendo’s updated pricing strategy is, well, news to you, the tl;dr is that physical versions of new Nintendo games are going to be priced higher than their digital versions.

The company recently said in a statement that, “Nintendo games offer the same experiences whether in packaged or digital format, and this change simply reflects the different costs associated with producing and distributing each format and offers players more choice in how they can buy and play Nintendo games.”

This price change can already be seen with Splatoon Raiders and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Their digital prices are $49.99 and $59.99, respectively, which are a full $10 lower than their non-discounted physical prices.

This is why it’s worth celebrating Walmart knocking $10 off these preorders and Amazon joining in on the fun. They’re nice little deals, though it’s worth keeping in mind that they may not last for a long time. These price drops were made fairly recently, and it’s unknown how long they’ll be sticking around for. So, why not take this opportunity to get a preorder in while they’re still available?
