Mouse: P.I. For Hire publisher PlaySide recoups all expenses since April launch

The publisher for Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the 1930s cartoon-styled shooter, has already recouped its expenses since its debut last month.

Addressing investors in a recent financial presentation, PlaySide confirmed publishing and marketing costs have now been “recouped,” with “continued strong sales performance” expected to contribute to PlaySide’s FY26 revenue, which has been upscaled from $34.7m to $36-$38 million.

“The upgrade primarily reflects stronger than-expected unit sales and ongoing wishlist conversion of Mouse: P.I. For Hire across PC and console platforms, and has been achieved despite the delayed launch of the title and the absence of major external project wins during the year to date,” the publisher said.

PlaySide also confirmed that “console units have increased to 50% of total units sold as the title retains significant visibility on console storefronts.”

The success of Mouse: P.I. For Hire contributed to a “record revenue” of $64.6m for PlaySide, and a record for an original IP, too, of $30.3m.

Work for hire revenue also set a new bar, hitting $34.3m for the first time.
