Obsession breakout star, Inde Navarrette, is going viral for her gaming livestreams, including Sony hit The Last of Us.

Last month, a brand new horror movie known as Obsession was released, and it has been one of Hollywood’s biggest success stories. The film was made for just $750,000 before being picked up by Focus Features for distribution. It has since gone on to make over $200 million at the box office, making it one of the most profitable movies ever made. The film also catapulted the careers of first-time director Curry Barker and star Inde Navarrette. The actress plays a young woman who becomes erratic after her friend wishes for her to fall in love with him.

Navarrette charmed audiences with her wicked performance, but has also been building an audience outside of film. Fans quickly discovered that the actress once streamed games on Twitch, such as Call of Duty, as well as single-player games like The Last of Us and Outlast, although it seems all videos have been pulled from the channel. A YouTube channel under her name also popped up earlier this month, uploading her past streams. It’s unclear if the channel is actually owned by her or if someone else is just capitalizing on her old content, but nevertheless, you can still check out some of her old streams on the channel.

Her partial playthrough of The Last of Us has racked up over 650,000 views in just three days, leading to a quippy response from PlayStation itself. “We’re obsessed,” said PlayStation UK’s X account.

In a recent interview with GQ, Navarrette talked about how she grew up with video games and eventually started streaming during her downtime.

“It’s just something that I really love to do,” she said. “One of my first games growing up that we would play, me and my older brother Amani, it’s the only thing we had to do at my Dad’s house. We started on the PS2, and we would play Shrek games in Big Head mode with my mom. And then I would branch off by myself to play campaign games. Me and Amani would play Call of Duty. He was really into Halo. Then we got into Red Dead and like, Fallout, like all of these games.

“I just would play or watch my older brother. And then I built my own PC during COVID and that was really fun to start to get into PC games. It really just took off with me loving watching YouTubers growing up, like Markiplier. So for me, it was like, oh, why not? If I’m not working on a show and I love playing video games by myself and I love playing with friends, then why not stream? It became a lot of fun.”

It doesn’t seem like Navarrette is active on Twitch these days, which isn’t much of a surprise given that she is likely quite busy after the success of Obsession. The actress had previously played supporting roles in shows like 13 Reasons Why and Superman & Lois, but Obsession will likely take her to an all-new level. Whether she will have time to stream again remains to be seen, but at least there’s a surplus of older content for fans to dig into.
