Indie hit Meccha Chameleon was a breakout success in June, ranking as the second-highest PC title in revenue behind Fortnite, according to Newzoo.

Developed by indie creators Lemorion_1224 and Hagneiro, the title launched on June 10 and has already sold over 15 million copies. It also debuted at No.6 on Newzoo’s PC engagement charts.

According to Newzoo, this initial sales figure surpasses Lethal Company, which sold over 10 million units in six months, and Fall Guys, which sold seven million in its first month.

“Its rapid commercial success shows that lower-budget, socially driven multiplayer experiences can achieve significant commercial results alongside major franchises,” said Newzoo market analyst Mert Şahin.

Indie life sim Paralives ranked one position above The Sims 4 at No.7, while Dead by Daylight rose 16 places to No.10 following its tenth anniversary celebrations.

“This demonstrates how long-running live-service titles can sustain commercial momentum through ongoing investment in content and community,” Şahin added.

Newzoo’s June report included a pre-order ranking chart, with Grand Theft Auto 6 leading as the highest-grossing console title based on five days of pre-orders.

Set to launch on November 19, Rockstar’s highly anticipated title generated an estimated $260 million globally from pre-orders alone.

Newzoo’s engagement rankings “showed minimal change across PC and console,” with titles such as Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2, Minecraft, Roblox, and League of Legends continuing to attract more players than recent releases.

The data firm also noted that Obsidian’s Grounded climbed over 250 places to No.16 on the console engagement charts after its release on PlayStation Plus.

“This shows how multi-game subscription services can extend the lifecycle of established titles by reconnecting them with new and returning players,” Şahin noted.
