Matchmaking platform Sail.game is introducing a free tier for PC and console game developers ahead of Gamescom.

From today through August 31, users can bypass the €99 fee and access the platform’s Entry Cruise tier with the promo code SAILFREE.

The Entry Cruise tier is available for a limited time, but developers who claim it during Gamescom will receive lifetime access for their game.

The package offers the following features:

  • Create a game card, a structured project profile for publishers
  • Access matchmaking with publishers based on acquisition criteria such as genre, platform, budget, and development stage
  • Receive notifications when publishers view or shortlist a project
  • Enable interested publishers and investors to contact studios directly

While the “higher tiers offer additional exposure and features,” the Entry Cruise package is “sufficient to help developers become discoverable and find relevant publishing partners.”

“There are many strong games that struggle to reach the right people, not because the projects lack potential, but because developers simply don’t have the time, network, or budget for months of cold outreach,” said CEO Vladimír Geršl.

“My colleagues and I have been part of the games industry for almost 25 years, and over that time we’ve turned our long-standing contacts into an active network of publishers who share with us exactly what kinds of projects they are looking for. Sail.Game takes that knowledge and brings it into a new era of digital scouting, helping developers reach the right partners much more efficiently.

Geršl concluded: “Thanks to our partners and sponsors, we can now temporarily open free access and give many more studios a real shot at finding funding, while allowing them to focus on building great games.”

Geršl and managing director Guillaume Jamet launched Sail.game earlier this year.

The platform now features over 230 verified publishers and investors and has facilitated more than 23,000 user interactions.

Sail.game’s discovery service is free for qualified publishers. Jamet previously told GamesIndustry.biz that the €99 price point is a “necessary gate” to maintain the “integrity of its ecosystem.”

“Teams routinely spend a lot more on events, travel, or participating in online showcases with highly uncertain outcomes,” he said. “We believe we offer a much higher chance of getting noticed for a much lower cost, both in cash and in man-hours.”
