Amazon in the US is currently taking invite requests to preorder the highly anticipated Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Boxes. Listed for $89.99, the major online retailer currently has the 30th Anniversary ETBs for just $30 above MSRP.

This is notably different from Amazon’s normal approach to Pokémon TCG preorders in the US, where it will typically price its “sold and shipped directly from Amazon” listings as close to market rates as possible (i.e., typically what the average buyer is willing to pay).
Considering the current market price is just under $178 at the trusted resale marketplace TCGplayer, you can see why this listing stands out. Moreover, while Amazon UK primarily uses invite requests for Pokémon TCG, this is a first for the US.
There’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to preorder via Amazon even when requesting an invite, but it does put you in with a decent enough chance. So, it’s worth putting in your invite request while you can.
Orders are also `protected by Amazon’s preorder price guarantee. So, if you are able to lock in an order, you won’t be charged until it ships, and you’ll also pay the lowest price possible from when you preordered, all the way to when it arrives at your door.
But is it worth picking up the ETB at this price? That’s ultimately up to you. Unfortunately, finding Pokémon TCG products at MSRP has become increasingly difficult, and market prices are often what collectors are forced to pay, even when buying from major retailers like Amazon.
Still, it’s around $90 less than “market price”, which is simply what people are currently willing to pay. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good value, but it’s definitely worth noting as paying $90 is much better than paying double that from a reseller.
There are also a few other notable Pokémon TCG restocks at Amazon right now, including the First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 sets for $34, Destined Rivals ETBs for $115.49, and Prismatic Evolution Super Premium Collection for $275.
Both the Prismatic SPCs and First Partner Collections are also roughly in line with current market prices, so you’re not paying a huge premium to pick them up from Amazon right now.
