Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has confessed that he isn’t much of a gamer, but wants to play Grand Theft Auto 6.
The actor best known for playing Jon Snow reflected on his experience with the gaming world with Josh Horowitz in a recent interview. After recalling his experience working on Silent Hill: Revelation, a live-action film based on the beloved horror gaming franchise, he was asked if he was much of a gamer. Harington noted he didn’t have much experience with the Silent Hill games, but played a bit of Tekken, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, and most recently, Hogwarts Legacy.
When Horowitz asked if he’d ever dabbled in Grand Theft Auto, Harington said that he wants to play Grand Theft Auto 6 after seeing some of the advertising. He went on to express an admiration for videos that mimic GTA’s tropes in real life. All of this sort of goes to show that the GTA 6 effect is beginning to happen, as even non-gamers are getting pulled in by its trance.
Rockstar is spending a boatload of cash to get the game in front of as many people as possible. It has assembled an Avengers-level ensemble of musicians to craft an original soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto 6, spent nearly $1 million on a “Welcome to Vice City” sign in Miami, and is likely only going to continue to ramp things up as we get closer to launch. NBA star Steven Adams also joked that he expects the performance of the league to drop when GTA 6 releases in November.
As for Harington specifically, he didn’t say whether or not he will actually end up playing GTA 6 or not. He’s had some experience in the gaming world, as he was the main antagonist in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and voiced Jon Snow in Telltale’s Game of Thrones video game. His next big role will be playing Gildroy Lockhart in HBO’s Harry Potter TV series, which may explain why he recently dabbled in Hogwarts Legacy.
