Embark Studios’ Arc Raiders and The Finals are both being adapted for TV and film.
According to Variety, the projects have been set up with Chernin Entertainment, the film and TV division of The North Road Company, which was selected from several production companies and studios competing for the rights. It will serve as the lead producer on the TV series and movies for both games.
Nexon executive chairman and Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund said the agreement is the next big step in growing both games into “deeply integrated transmedia experiences.”
David Ready, president of film at Chernin Entertainment, described the games as “ambitious global IP with the potential to become major franchises across film and television.”
Arc Raiders launched in October 2025 and has sold more than 16 million copies. It won best multiplayer game at the 2025 Game Awards and received the best multiplayer award at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Free-to-play first-person shooter The Finals registered more than 30 million players in three years.
Chernin’s credits include the film Backrooms, which Variety says grossed more than $400 million worldwide on a $10 million budget, and the Apple TV series Chief of War.
These are, of course, just the latest in a long line of gaming IPs adapted for TV and movies. The recent Resident Evil movie has debuted as the highest-rated video game movie adaptation ever, while Arcane: League of Legends’ second season sits on a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
