Hearth and Hamlet publisher Runic Forge has rebranded as Pythia Games.
Rune, the UK-based “data-driven indie marketing agency,” is now moving to work “exclusively as a publisher.”
The move follows the launch of Phorust Studios’ cozy incremental city builder Hearth and Hamlet, Rune’s first major release as a publisher. The game launched on Steam on August 19 and sold nearly 50,000 units in its first 24 hours, rising to 100,000 in its first week. It has since passed 1,800 Steam reviews.
Before launch, more than 100,000 unique players played the game’s free demo, and its wishlists passed 125,000.
Pythia’s first wave of new titles includes Carnholt, a roguelike deckbuilder from Magic: The Gathering artist Maxime Minard, and Dragon’s Tear, an idle dungeon-crawler RPG inspired by classic JRPGs from developer LilChill Games.
The publisher is also looking to partner with more indie developers.
“After years of experience in agency work, everyone here at Pythia Games is delighted to be starting this new chapter as a publisher,” said Aidan McGrath, founder and marketing director at Pythia Games.
“The team is united by a shared passion for discovering and elevating new and innovative indie games, and for supporting small teams and solo developers alike.”
