Wordfeud developer Bertheussen IT has donated $50,000 to Norway-based games accelerator Spawn Point Trondheim.

The investment will support the firm in its ongoing expansion, including enhancing its program, bringing in more industry professionals, and the ability to “explore sustainable models for long term impact” for the local games sector.

“It’s incredibly motivating to receive support from someone who has succeeded in the games industry,” said Spawn Point project manager Linn Søvig.

“It shows that there’s a real belief in the next generation of Norwegian game developers and in the value of building a sustainable games industry here.”

“To truly drive commercial growth in the Norwegian games industry, we also need to grow as an organisation,” Søvig continued.

“This support gives us the flexibility to think long term and to explore how Spawn Point can evolve into a lasting resource for the entire industry.

“With more contributions like this, we believe we can make a lasting difference.”

Bertheussen IT founder Håkon Bertheussen added: “I know how tough it can be to navigate the games industry, especially in the beginning.

“When we see initiatives like Spawn Point, which are really trying to build structure and support around developers, we’re eager to help. It’s vital that we build this community together.”

Spawn Point launched last month and is currently in its first runthrough of its program with five studios receiving support. These included Lugn Games, Tooth Games, Shadowfay Games, Graybox Software, and HiPhi Games.
