Battlefield 6 Season 1 Maps Leak Online — But Not For Long

Battlefield 6‘s playtests continue to be leakier than a sieve, and this time, a 10-minute video purporting to reveal Season 1’s maps has popped up online.

Only yesterday, we highlighted a nine-minute slice of Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode that also leaked. This particular video not only gave us a good look at what to expect from the mode, but also reveals a couple of gameplay mechanics we didn’t previously know about, including swimming, one of the gadgets, and its “massive map.”

Now, the same source behind that leak has shared a clip of Blackwell Field (or possibly Blackwell Farm), which is thought to be set in Kern County, California, as well as a snippet of a second map called Eastwood, which is similarly set in California.

While EA has seemingly been nonplussed about the leaked content to date, this one was zinged with a copyright claim within hours. Before it was removed, however, players were treated to a pretty vast map that included a good range of environments and points of interest, including oil rigs, a village, a landing strip, and rocky clifftops. Overall, it’s mostly gone down well with commenters on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit who saw the video before it was pulled.

Battlefield 6 releases on October 10. We’re having a great time with what we’ve played so far, writing in our Battlefield 6 review-in-progress: “Right now, even in beta form, Battlefield 6 might be the most fun shooter I’ve played this year.”

Battlefield 6 won’t have ray-tracing, though, and its developer has said there are no plans to add the feature down the line. Despite being a popular inclusion in some games, ray-tracing’s more natural method of simulating lighting can also prove to be draining on your PC or console’s system resources — and it’s for this reason that the competitive shooter won’t include it.

We’ve also got comments from a developer at DICE admitting Battlefield 6 anti-cheat measures like Secure Boot mean some PC gamers just won’t be able to play the game.
