Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominated The Game Awards last night, achieving nine wins including Game of the Year.
Sandfall Interactive’s turn-based RPG was nominated for 12 awards, winning Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction, with the game’s composer Lorien Testard taking home the award for Best Score and Music.
Clair Obscur also won Best Independent and Best Indie Debut alongside Best RPG and Best Performance for Jennifer English’s portrayal of Maelle.
Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 was awarded Best Action Game, while Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong won Best Action/Adventure Game.
Nintendo received two accolades, with Donkey Kong Bananza winning Best Family Game and Mario Kart World winning Best Sports/Racing Game.
Elsewhere, Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight won Games for Impact, Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky won Best Ongoing Game, Cygames Inc.’s Umamusume: Pretty Derby won Best Mobile Game, and Embark Studios’ Arc Raiders won Best Multiplayer.
There were some major announcements during last night’s ceremony, including a new Divinity game from Larian Studios, a sequel to 2019’s Control (titled Control: Resonant) from Remedy Entertainment, and two new Tomb Raider games from Crystal Dynamics.
There was also a deeper look at Resident Evil: Requiem from Capcom, two upcoming Star Wars games from Arcanaut Studios and Fuse Games, and the return of Mega Man.
