Hideo Kojima has confirmed that players can expect a slew of new features for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach later this week, including a harder difficulty mode, replayable boss fights, and new live-action cutscenes that were initially cut from the PS5 release.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is, of course, set to arrive for PC later this week on March 19, less than a year after the game’s original arrival on PS5. And though Kojima had teased that new content would be coming to all players, regardless of platform, the director has only now revealed what that new content is.

Talking to Spacewalk, a Japanese radio show, and captured by Okami13 on X/Twitter (thanks, MP1st), we now know that the update will include a new hard difficulty mode, called To The Wilder, replayable boss fights (including Neil), new items, and live action cutscenes.

There’ll also be 21:9 ultrawide mode for PS5 as well as PC, various “gameplay adjustments” implemented following player feedback, plus new nightmares for Sam, and a new Chiral Cat for his room.

The new PC version will also include options for an uncapped framerate, plus Ultrawide monitor support and 32:9 Super UltraWidescreen for PC, all in 4K resolution.

Though not confirmed, it’s thought the update will drop later this week, alongside or very near the PC debut.

“Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a triumphant sequel that emphatically delivers on the promise of its original,” we wrote in our Death Stranding 2 review. IGN awarded the game an ‘Amazing’ 9/10.
