A tribute to the Elden Ring boss Godfrey, First Elden Lord has appeared in a fan’s local gym, designed to offer a wave of motivation for weight lifters pushing to set a new personal best. Elden Ring players are bereft of encouragement in-game during brutal boss battles, forced to fight, die, and repeat until the monstrosity in front of them has been defeated, but Godfrey’s words of wisdom have had an effect on athletes.
Soulslike fans are being treated this year thanks to the previous summer release of FromSoftware’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and Game Science’s upcoming Black Myth: Wukong, scheduled to release at the end of August. Elden Ring conquered sales charts again after the expansion’s release, which is a testament to the game’s popularity and the developer’s decision to provide substantial additional content to keep players invested.

Shared on the Elden Ring subreddit by Kolket, a photo showing a real-life gym’s whiteboard was posted, featuring a blue-ink sketch of Godfrey with remarkable detail. The Elden Lord boss doesn’t use his sword during the Elden Ring fight, so instead, he can be seen holding the Colossal Weapon, the Axe of Godfrey, with “200kg” written on the blade. Also accompanying the doodle was one of the boss’ signature quotes, “Thy Strength Befits a Crown,” which is a fitting mantra for athletes and weightlifters to remember when lifting heavy.
Elden Ring’s Godfrey Motivates Weight Lifters At The Gym
The Elden Ring community wasted no time in addressing the humor behind the sketch, saying “Tarnished deadlifter. Spurned by the grace of gains.” Additionally, the whiteboard masterpiece carried the caption “Elden Gym by @anastasia_seagull,” which links to the concept artist’s Instagram account, known for their work on Disco Elysium. Another fan commented “Thy artistic skills befit a crown,” which prompted a different user to tag the artist, suggesting this was their handy work.
Godfrey, First Elden Lord is a two-phase Legend Boss waiting in the Ashen Capital’s Leyndell, transforming into the Hoarah Loux, Warrior after taking 60% damage. Defeating Godfrey requires close combat, coupled with precise dodging and limitless patience from players – as is the case with a majority of Elden Ring enemies. The fan who shared the gym’s Godfrey drawing thought “Someone had too much time on their hands,” but the artistry was impressive nonetheless.
Furthermore, Godfrey’s lion spirit Serosh has a rich history, but the Beast Regent and advisor to the boss can also be applied to athletes’ fighting, animalistic spirit in the gym. The stamina, patience, and strength of character required to make progress in the gym are traits also shared with Elden Ring players, who dedicate their time and sanity to one of the hardest games in existence.
