Epic Games is raising the price of Fortnite’s in-game currency to “help pay the bills” because “the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot.”

As detailed in a blog post, the cost increase will take effect at the start of the next battle royale season on March 19, 2026.

The biggest changes are to the four V-Bucks packs offered to players:

  • $8.99 pack: 800 V-Bucks (was 1,000)
  • $22.99 pack: 2,400 V-Bucks (was 2,800)
  • $36.99 pack: 4,500 V-Bucks (was 5,000)
  • $89.99 pack: 12,500 V-Bucks (was 13,500)

Players subscribed to the monthly Fortnite Crew membership will now receive 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000.

Bonus currency rewards will also be removed from Fortnite’s main battle pass, while the pass itself will decrease in price from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800.

Fortnite’s three other game passes (OG, Lego, and Music) will also see a 200 V-Bucks price decrease. An optional season pass will also be made available.

The news follows the resolution of Epic’s dispute with Google over app store fees, which have been reduced to 20%.

Epic initiated the legal battle in 2020, with the antitrust trial starting in 2023.
