As the Xbox Series X/S enjoys its latest year, Microsoft’s platform is gradually amassing a respectable library. Consoles typically do not start to flourish until the latter half of their existence, once cross-gen stops being a priority and developers can focus exclusively on crafting projects for only the most modern systems. The Xbox Series X/S has yet to reach that point, although things are moving in that direction.
The last few years have produced plenty of fantastic games, particularly in the open-world genre. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands were all good or great 2022 releases, and they offered wildly different experiences from each other. The year’s successor largely followed suit with projects like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. What upcoming Xbox games are the most exciting? Which titles are expected to drop in 2024?

Xbox Games Coming Out In October 2024
Dragon Ball, Call Of Duty, & More
October 2024 is stuffed with major Xbox games. While the first week is a bit slow, October 8 should get the ball rolling for the rest of the month, ensuring a new exciting debut is always a few days away. Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred DLC could complete the action RPG’s redemption story, building on the good work of the Loot Reborn update. Arena fighting fans who happen to be into anime will want to check out Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, a project constructed on the foundations of the Budokai Tenkachi games. If somebody prefers their fighting games to be grounded in reality, Undisputed should be for them.
New World: Aeternum brings the online RPG to consoles, and it comes with a few improvements that set it apart from the original version. Speaking of updates, Sonic X Shadow: Generations will enhance the well-liked 2011 platformer, along with adding a new campaign centering around Shadow the Hedgehog.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 needs no introduction, and most people likely already know if they will be picking up the game or not. The same can mostly be said for Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, which looks set to be a logical evolution of True Colors. Finally, BioWare’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard will debut at the end of the month.

Xbox Games Coming Out In November 2024
Microsoft Flight Simulator, Stalker, & More
While still a work in progress, November 2024 looks set to have some of the biggest 2024 Xbox games, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The 2020 version was a legitimate system seller that showcased the impressive power of the Xbox Series X without being just a glorified tech demo. There is nothing to suggest the sequel will be anything short of brilliant. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Slitterhead, and Farming Simulator 25 will also launch in November. Genshin Impact will also finally make its Xbox debut.
After multiple very understandable delays, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl looks set to make its debut on November 20. The highly-anticipated survival horror game will debut directly on Game Pass.

Xbox Games Coming Out In December 2024
Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones, & More
December is not usually a packed month in terms of video game releases, with only the first half typically including major debuts. That said, December 2024’s Xbox lineup is not bad, and that primarily comes down to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Also launching on PC, the game will be a temporary Xbox console exclusive, allowing Game Pass players to get their hands on the franchise’s first notable project in a long time. While the first-person angle garnered some criticism, it should play to MachineGames’ strengths.
December 2024 also has Marvel Rivals, which seems set to be the next “huge” multiplayer hero shooter. Even though these types of releases do not always hit the mark, the Marvel brand should help attract an audience. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is also exciting.

“Coming soon” can mean anything from a few months to a couple of years. Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Control 2 are just two games in development, but players will have to wait patiently to learn when these sequels will be made available to play.
There are so many exciting announced projects that will eventually come to the Xbox Series X/S, some of which have revealed very little information about themselves. The Elder Scrolls 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Ark 2 are all highly-anticipated titles that could still be a long way off from becoming a reality, and these projects are just the tip of the iceberg.
