Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo and former leader of Ridgeline Games, has said he’s “disappointed” that Ridgeline Games staff have not been credited in the recent release of Battlefield 6.

Ridgeline, which was shut down by parent company EA in 2024, worked on Battlefield 6’s solo campaign before its closure, but Lehto claims that “despite their significant contributions, [most staff] who were laid off were relegated to a ‘Special Thanks’ section at the very end of the credits — and several were omitted entirely, including myself.”

“I’m disappointed to see that many of my former teammates from Ridgeline Games were not properly credited in the recent release of Battlefield 6,” he wrote in a statement on LinkedIn.

“These talented developers worked tirelessly for 1 to 2.5 years, building the foundation of the game, before I left voluntarily and the studio was subsequently shuttered.

“Out of respect for my colleagues and the awesome work they poured into this project, I want to take a moment to properly recognize them — listing their names and roles as I would have preferred them to appear in the credits.

“Game development is a team effort, and every contributor deserves fair acknowledgment,” he concluded.

In a follow-up statement, he wrote: “Ridgeline was responsible for driving a new narrative foundation, fictional setting, believable factions, and iconic locations for the setting of campaign missions. We did this in tight collaboration with the other fantastic BF studios and were very proud of the exciting things that made it into the final game.

“On the other hand, it’s also understandable that the high level story, characters, and mission flow along with more open sandbox style SP gameplay we were developing was scrapped after Ridgeline closed. I might have done the same thing in their shoes.”
