Kohler wasn’t always a bathroom giant. Back in the 1870s in Wisconsin, the company was founded as a farm implement company by Austrian immigrant John Michael Kohler (who looked a little like a husky Leo DiCaprio if you squint hard enough). But then a decade later, Kohler quite literally invented the American bathtub—a clawfoot design still popular today among those with a yen for nostalgia. By the 1910s, according to their company history, Kohler also inaugurated the “integrated-apron” bathtub that’s in more common use today.
So Kohler knows how to make a bathtub, is what we’re saying—including a wide variety of hydrotherapy models—and handsome shower fixtures.
