Lenovo cancels some Legion Go Gen 2 pre-orders due it “substantially exceed[ing] expectations”

Lenovo has cancelled some pre-orders for the Legion Go Gen 2, explaining that demand for the gaming handheld has “substantially exceeded” expectations, resulting in delayed delivery times.

As reported by VGC, Lenovo started an ‘Ask Us Anything about the Legion Go Gen 2’ thread on Reddit on September 15, 2025, where multiple users asked about shipping delays, with a user in Germany even stating their initial shipping window of September has now been pushed to November.

In an update on September 17, 2025, Lenovo explained that it had been “missing in action” since starting the thread as “we had to get our stuff together behind the scenes.”

“We know that many of you have been asking about product delays so we owe you an explanation,” Lenovo said. “The truth is pre-orders for the Legion Go Gen 2 has substantially exceeded our projections, leading to unforeseen delivery range extensions.”

“We are working diligently with our teams worldwide to fill these orders as quickly as possible. We truly appreciate the overwhelming support of Legion fans, and ask for your patience while we work to get the Legion Go Gen 2 into your waiting hands.”

Lenovo continued: “We messed up this time but we promise we’ll move forward with a lot more caution and care because that’s what you, our awesome community, deserves.”

Lenovo then updated the thread again on September 19, 2025, after “connecting with our Lenovo retail colleagues around the world.”

“The good news is that more units are already on their way to major retailers globally, so you can expect to see availability in retail outlets and websites improving in the coming weeks,” the company said.

“That said, we will need to cancel some pre-orders placed directly on Lenovo.com. We don’t believe in holding onto customer payments for products we can’t ship in a timely manner. As soon as our online inventory is replenished, Lenovo.com will show updated availability and ordering will reopen.”

Lenovo acknowledged “this is frustrating” and apologised to the community for “the inconvenience it caused”.

“The Legion Go Gen 2 was built with you in mind, and this experience has been an important lesson for us,” Lenovo continued.

Due to be released this October, the Lenovo Go Gen 2 is the company’s latest handheld gaming PC, with prices ranging from $1,099 (for the base version with AMD Z2 APU, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD) to $1,479.99 (for the high-end version with AMD Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD).

For comparison, the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handheld, due to release on October 16, 2025, is $549.99, with the higher-end ROG Xbox Ally X priced at $899.99.
