Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) is coming to select, internet-connected vehicles, allowing passengers to stream and play games directly from the Xbox app.

Microsoft made the announcement in an Xbox Wire post on September 9, 2025, revealing that cars utilizing LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP) will be able to access Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta).

An automotive data plan, internet connection, and an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription are required to access Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming. Additionally, a Bluetooth controller is needed to play the games.

In the post, Chris Lee, vice president of Xbox marketing, said that “all services operate in compliance with driving safety regulations.”

As such, Xbox streaming is only available to backseat passengers, with the trailer showing a screen on the back of each of the two front seats, but none in the front of the vehicle.

“Whether you’re jumping back into an old favorite or discovering something completely new, Xbox Cloud Gaming and LG Electronics transforms your vehicle’s infotainment system into more than just music and movies – it becomes a full entertainment hub,” Lee wrote in the post.

He continued: “Our work with LG is the latest example of Xbox expanding to new places, building on partnerships that already bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to mobile devices, PCs, and TVs.

“By adding vehicles to the mix, we’re giving players more choice than ever in how they enjoy their games.”

According to LG, the company’s webOS-based ACP will power in-car streaming for Kia’s new European models, and will be rolled out to the upcoming Kia EV4, Kia EV5, and Kia New Sportage.

The platform made its debut in the Kia EV3, the same model LG used to demonstrate the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany, on September 8, 2025.

According to The Chosun Daily (via VGC), Eunseok Hyun, vice president and head of LG Electronics’ vehicle solution division, stated during a conference on September 9, 2025, that LG plans to supply its ACP to “20 million vehicles cumulatively by 2030, leading the SDV market.”
