Nintendo Switch 2 Pokémon Legends bundle releases October 16

Nintendo has announced a new Switch 2 bundle to coincide with the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A this October.

As reported by Business Wire, the new Switch 2 bundle releases on October 16, the same day as Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and packs in a Nintendo Switch 2 console and the Switch 2 edition of the game.

Pre-orders for this new Switch 2 bundle are available now from My Nintendo Store (and select retailers) for $499.9/£429.99. This is $50/£34 more than the standard $449.99/£395.99 price of the console alone.

During a general Q&A at its annual shareholders meeting in June, Nintendo addressed concerns over the Switch 2’s high price point.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa told investors that the console’s price “is appropriate for the gaming experience that it offers,” but that the company is “closely monitoring to what degree the price of the system might become a barrier.”

For now, it seems Nintendo is holding fast in its pricing. This is no surprise considering the Switch 2 broke US console launch week records and was the biggest console launch in Japan, with 2.2 million people applying to pre-order the console.

Combined with the latest Pokémon, a game series that has sold over 489 million units to date, we imagine Z-A’s release in October will see a huge boost to Switch 2 sales – and may even see the Pokémon series reach that coveted 500 million sales mark.
