Reforged Studios has acquired Super Meat Boy 3D publisher Headup Games.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Headup’s team will remain unchanged, and there will be no job losses as a result of the acquisition.
Reforged said the acquisition is “a significant strategic milestone” as it builds its publishing platform and supports independent studios.
As part of Reforged, Headup will be supported by the firm’s wider development and publishing network.
Headup founder Dieter Schoeller will continue managing the publisher’s operations and has also been appointed Reforged’s chief publishing officer. He will report directly to the company’s founders.
“Headup has built one of the most respected and carefully curated portfolios in independent publishing,” said Reforged Studios CEO Peter van der Watt.
“Their reputation has been earned through consistent developer advocacy and a clear editorial vision. Bringing that capability into Reforged materially strengthens our publishing platform and accelerates our long–term growth strategy.”
“This acquisition is not about consolidation for its own sake. It is about building a durable publishing home for ambitious independent creators.”
Schoeller added: “This wasn’t about chasing scale – it was about finding the right people. Reforged is built by people who genuinely understand games, and that alignment allows us to grow without losing what makes Headup special.”
