Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm is a mixed bag of new content. While it adds three new survivors, a new final boss, and a couple of new stages, it also introduces an unconscionable number of bugs that ruin the game for even the most hardcore fans.
One of the new features that the DLC introduces is the Halcyon Shrine. When players interact with this Shrine, they have to complete a small event, after which the shrine will spawn a green portal that players can take to the next stage.
How To Get The Green Portal In Risk of Rain 2
The green portal gives players a different route from normal, taking them to Prime Meridian. This is an alternate final stage where players can fight the new boss, the False Son. He is the brother of Mithrix and provides a challenging fight for the player. Defeating him with a Halcyon Seed will give the players the secret survivor, and defeating him on Monsoon difficulty with any of the old survivors unlocks their new skin.
Green portals are slightly different from the other portals in Risk of Rain 2. To spawn them, players have to find the Halcyon Shrine and activate it. Once the Halcyon Shrine event is completed, players can progress through the green portal. The first green portal won’t occur with the teleporter, spawning separately at the Halcyon Shrine.
However, all subsequent stages will have the green portal spawn with the teleporter. Keep taking the green portals after completing the teleporter events to reach Prime Meridian. If a Halcyon Shrine spawns while the player is on the green portal route, it will spawn a golden portal that takes them to the Gilded Coast. Even if you go through it, you’ll stay on the green portal route, reaching Prime Meridian as normal.
Where To Find The Halcyon Shrine In Risk Of Rain 2
The Halcyon Shrine consists of a few green crystals jutting out of the ground, with one of them being interactable. The shrine usually spawns in the first stage of the run, though it can also appear in other stages. It can spawn in subsequent cycles as well. This means you don’t have to take the green portal in the first cycle; you can look for it in the second or third one once you’ve acquired enough gear to go up against the new boss.
The shrine itself can be found anywhere around the stage. Players will have to look for it similar to how they look for a teleporter, though the Halcyon Shrine doesn’t have any particle effects that they can look for. Sometimes, the shrine won’t spawn on the first stage. As soon as the first stage starts, open the chat messages to confirm whether the shrine has spawned or not. If there’s nothing in the messages, the shrine isn’t there. If the shrine did spawn, then you should see a chat message that says, “You hear Thunder rumbling,” as soon as the start of the first stage starts.
How To Use The Halycon Shrine In Risk Of Rain 2
When players interact with the Halycon Shrine, it will become active and spawn a few enemies, usually golems, to fight the players. At the same time, a golden dome spawns around the shrine, inside which the player will lose gold, charging the shrine itself.
After a few seconds, they can activate the shrine again, summoning a Halcyonite to fight them. You don’t need an insane build to defeat the Halcyonite; it’s a fairly easy enemy to beat. When the Halcyonite is killed, the shrine will spawn a new type of interactable that will let players choose 1-3 items out of 3-5. The number of items that players can choose depends on how much they charge the shrine before activating it.
Stages Of Activation For The Halcyon Shrine In Risk Of Rain 2
The shrine has three stages of activation. Each stage is indicated by the shrine flashing with golden light and spawning new enemies for the player to fight. The initial stage lets players choose one out of three rewards and requires them to give it 70-80 coins. The second activation occurs around the 150 gold mark.
The enemies spawned by the shrine aren’t enough to fill all three activation stages. Players will need around
200 gold coins
if they want to activate the shrine completely without fighting any enemies other than the ones spawned by the shrine.
If you activate the shrine after the second stage is complete, you’ll be able to choose 2 out of 4 items. The last activation stage is when the shrine is fully charged, after consuming between 270 and 300 coins. After defeating the Halcyonite, you’ll be able to get three out of five rewards from the Gilded Blessing. In an ideal world, you’d want to wait until the shrine finishes charging, spawning a Halcyonite on its own. However, the cost equates to 100 coins per item on a stage where normal chests only cost 25 coins. These items can be of any rarity, and the fact that you can choose which items you get makes it somewhat worth it.
