Tired of having to remember to charge your Apple Watch or Pixel Watch every night? The OnePlus Watch 3 boasts an incredible five days of battery life, letting you go almost a full week without finding an outlet, and it’s currently marked down to just $300 on Amazon in both the Emerald Titanium and Obsidian Titanium colorways.
OnePlus has employed two main tricks to achieve such a long battery life on such a small watch. The first is silicon-carbon batteries that have a higher storage density than other batteries of the same size, so this watch has a 631-mAh battery in its surprisingly svelte bezel. There are also two operating systems running at the same time, with the Qualcomm chip handling all the Wear OS 5 features and a BES2800 running all the background tasks. The result is a massive five-day run time in normal mode or up to 16 days in power-saving mode, enough for an entire trip.
It boasts a 1.5-inch AMOLED, which may be on the large side for some folks, but I wear a 45-mm Casio every day, so it sounds like an appealing size to me. It has great performance, with no stuttering or lag, and has all the features you’d expect from a full-fledged Wear OS watch, like fitness tracking, navigation, and even phone calls and texting.
While it also has electrocardiogram capability, OnePlus didn’t get it approved for use in the United States or Canada, but you will find other classics like a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and fall detection, all of which work just as well as they do on the first-party offerings.
Between the long battery life, great screen, and smooth Wear OS implementation, it certainly feels like OnePlus is coming into its own as a true competitor to the Pixel Watch.
