How to Solve the Rover’s Lair Puzzle in Star Wars Outlaws
When completing the ability challenges in Star Wars Outlaws, more often than not Kay will have to find at least one Key Part. Usually, these parts are found in the Key Part Intel section of the Journal. This system automatically creates a small fetch-quest for Kay, making the process of obtaining these parts fairly simple. However, there are a few rare exceptions. The Flux Compressor is a perfect example, as it is still difficult to find even with the quest marker. This guide will help players find the Flux Compressor in Star Wars Outlaws, and use it to unlock the Ion Smoke Bomb ability.
How to Get the Flux Compressor in Star Wars Outlaws
The Scavenger’s Abilities:
The Flux Compressor is tied directly to The Scavenger’s abilities in Star Wars Outlaws. Players will not see the Flux Compressor in their Key Part Intel until The Scavenger is unlocked, and his Ion Smoke Bomb ability is revealed. Once that happens, Kay will be able to collect this important upgrade item.
The Scavenger
is unlocked as the Akiva portion of the main questline progresses. Because players have the choice of which planet they’ll visit after Toshara, it is possible for The Scavenger to be unlocked at multiple points in the game.
Where to Find the Flux Compressor:
Once you have the Flux Compressor in your Key Part Intel, set it to active to get the general location. In this instance, because the terrain is difficult, having a quest marker will not be enough for some players.
The quest marker is a bit tricky, as it makes it seem like the part is located inland. However, the path to get to the desired location begins in The Great Basin. Looking at the map above, you’ll see the starting point is directly west of Research Station 57, the Imperial base where Kay rescues Gedeek during the events of “The Droidsmith.” At the starting point, you’ll find a collapsed ruin that now forms a jump ramp for Kay’s speeder.
Use the Speed Boost and Jump abilities to easily clear the jump on Kay’s speeder. After the jump, Kay will have to proceed on foot. Not far along the path, Kay will encounter a gap in the rocks that is blocked by the orange moss-covered rocks. Use the blaster’s Power Module to clear the way and move on. The path is mostly straightforward, but if you feel stuck, make sure you look up to check for grapple points. There is also a turn that appears to be a dead end at first, until you approach the edge to find a small path around the outer edge.
Eventually, Kay will reach Rover’s Lair, the location of the Treasure Chest that contains the Flux Compressor.
How to Solve the Rover’s Lair Puzzle in Star Wars Outlaws
When you arrive at Rover’s Lair, you’ll find a door connected to four generators. There are four red lights above the door that will turn green to signal when each generator is receiving power. Two of the generators are blocked by breakable rocks, make sure to destroy them.
- Each generator will stay active for a different length of time. The puzzle is discovering the correct order to shoot them in.
- Make sure to use the Ion Module to shoot the generators.
Rover’s Lair Puzzle Solution:
The generators must be shot with Ion Module in this order:
- Far Right
- Second from left
- Far Left
- Second from Right
This will allow the door to open, revealing the chest that contains the Flux Compressor. If Kay has all the required materials, she can now unlock the Ion Smoke Bomb.
