Spyder Games, the developer behind the viral hit Steal a Brainrot on Roblox, is suing a Fortnite Creative copycat game for copyright infringement.
As noted by Aftermath, Spyder Games filed a lawsuit in California last week, accusing Thomas Van Der Voort of copying its “artwork, objects, design, and game elements” for the Fortnite Creative game, Stealing Brainrots.
After launching Steal a Brainrot in May 2025, Spyder secured the copyright in August.
“The similarities are not merely the result of the games existing in the same genre or dictated by function,” the lawsuit claims. “Defendant made conscious decisions to copy the creative choices and unique designs that were implemented in the game.
“The similarities between the game and the infringing game are not coincidental. They are the result of willful infringement by defendant in an effort to steal the market for plaintiff’s game.”
Spyder Games is claiming damages, both actual and punitive, attorney fees, and a permanent injunction against Van Der Voort.
Earlier this month, Roblox launched its first Parent Council.
