Following an announcement late last week, Nintendo has hiked the prices of a range of Switch consoles and accessories in the US.

In a post published on August 1, Nintendo announced that on August 3, “pricing for the original Nintendo Switch family of systems and products will change in the United States based on market conditions.”

The company didn’t specify what these pricing changes would be in its announcement, but we now know consumers in the US can expect to pay up to 15% more for a Switch console and up to 33% more for select Amiibos.

Pricing changes

Here’s a quick rundown of the price increase for select Nintendo Switch products in the US:

Switch Models:

  • Nintendo Switch: Previously $299.99, now $339.99 (up 13.3%)
  • Switch OLED: Previously $349.99, now $399.99 (up 14.3%)
  • Switch Lite: Previously $199.99, now $229.99 (up 15%)

Switch Accessories:

  • Nintendo Alarmo: Previously $99.99, now $109.99 (up 10%)
  • Switch JoyCons: Previously $79.99, now $89.99 (up 12.5%)

Amiibos:

  • Standard Amiibo (like Piranha Plant): Previously $15.99, now $19.99 (up 25%)
  • Premium Amiibo (including TOTK Amiibos): Previously $19.99, now $29.99
  • New Amiibos (including Street Fighter 6): Previously $29.99, now $39.99 (up 33%)

This price hike comes just days after Nintendo released its financial report for the three months ending June 30, in which the company reported its quarterly revenue had more than doubled.

While the company hasn’t expanded on why it’s hiked prices of select hardware and accessories, it did say the price adjustments are due to “market conditions” in the US.

Nintendo seems to be hinting at the tariffs on foreign goods revealed by President Donald Trump in the US on April 2, 2025.

The company had to navigate Trump’s tariffs ahead of the Switch 2’s launch in June, having announced the price of its new console just before the announcement of the sweeping tariffs on foreign goods.

Nintendo moved production of Switch consoles and accessories to Vietnam from China in 2019/2020, amidst tensions between the US and China. However, Trump threatened Vietnam with a 46% tariff, resulting in Nintendo delaying the pre-order program for the Switch 2 in the US as it navigated the extra cost and its implications for the Switch 2’s pricing.

The 46% tariff on Vietnam was finalised at 20% in July, with a special 40% surcharge for transshipped goods. But, despite the drop, these tariffs will have increased Nintendo’s import costs to the US, likely resulting in the recent price hike.

While Nintendo doesn’t currently plan to adjust the price of the Switch 2 or NSO membership, the company has warned that “price adjustments may be necessary in the future.”
