This year’s Game Awards broke viewership records, bringing in an estimated 171 million global livestreams during its full broadcast last week.
The ceremony’s viewership is up 11% compared to last year’s event, during which numbers jumped 31% to 154 million livestreams worldwide.
Data for the full broadcast is combined from across YouTube, Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, X, Kick, Facebook, and Instagram Live, in addition to global viewership across China on a number of networks and JioHotstar in India.
The total does not include viewership from Prime Video, a partnership TGA announced back in November.
The event reached a 4.4 million peak of concurrent viewers on Twitch, YouTube, and other western platforms combined, up 9% from last year.
On YouTube specifically, the official TGA feed experienced a peak of 1.4 million viewers – an 8% jump year-on-year.
When combined with co-streams on the platform, which reached a record of over 8,600 channels, TGA’s audience was up 9% to a 2.4 million peak of concurrent viewers.
The Game Awards 2025 took place on December 11, with Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominating the night.
The turn-based RPG won nine of the 12 awards it was nominated for, including Game of the Year, Game Direction, Art Direction, Score and Music. Jennifer English also won Best Performance for her portrayal of Maelle.
There were, of course, plenty of game reveals during the event, including Larian Studio’s Divinity, Remedy Entertainment’s Control: Resonant, and the return of Lara Croft from Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog.
