Until Dawn made a return in 2024 as a remake for the PS5 and PC. Just like the original game, it is filled with meaningful choices that can decide the fates of many of its characters — each of which can meet a gruesome demise as the story progresses. However, its cast of protagonists don’t need to perish, as the player is able to save each one of them by making pivotal decisions throughout the game’s numerous chapters.
Throughout the game, players will see lots of peaceful wildlife creatures. They must ensure not to bring harm to any of these forest friends, otherwise they may jeopardize getting the best outcome the game has to offer. However, there are many other challenging hurdles thought up by the development team of Supermassive Games.
Important Choices in Chapter 4
This will be the first in a long line of chapters, and the first friend on the chopping block is Jess, after a less than wise decision. She finds herself snatched through a door window and dragged through the snow-covered forest by the game’s monstrous entity. Depending on the choices made by the player in Chapter 4, she may not be around for the final moments of the game. Players will need to choose between 2 choices to reach Jess, one being the safer option and one being risky. The safer options are slower and could result in not reaching Jess in time. The riskier options come with quick time events, so players will need to be ready to react. Here is a list of the choices to make:
Being too slow will result in Jess meeting a grizzly fate. Players will find Jess lying down but will plummet shortly after, only to reappear in a later chapter. Progress through the chapter, and you will swap over to Chris, who will hear Ashley calling out to him. As Chris, you will need to choose between either Save Josh, or Save Ashley. Choose the right option to Save Ashley, Watching what befalls Josh may seem like it is now impossible to save everyone, but it can still be done. Chris and Ashley will soon cross paths with Matt and Emily shortly after this scene.
Important Choices in Chapter 5
After saving Chris, there will be a scene with Dr. Hill, before the start of Chapter 5. Progress through the chapter as Mike until you switch over to Matt. Emily is quick on her feet when thinking up solutions, bringing up the Fire Tower and insisting on using its radio. This will prompt a choice to either Agree or Disagree. Select the right option of Disagree to head back.
Important Choices in Chapter 6
Chapter 6 will start with Matt and Emily between a cliff and some rather aggressive reindeer. Choose to stay Calm, Until Dawn has a thing about not being mean to any of the animals — just the monsters. Make your way peacefully past the reindeer and progress to the top of the tower to find a box with a flare gun.
Choose the right option of Give so that Matt gets the gun. He’ll need it later while he is being chased by the Wendigo. The player will take control of Matt once the tower has collapsed and Emily is in danger. Players will have the option to Save Emily or Jump To Safety. Choose to Save Emily.
The story will jump back to Chris and Ashley. Progress through the chapter until you come to yet another death trap and a loaded gun. You will have a choice of two circles, one over Chris and one over Ashley. Select the circle near Chris and the screen will go red.

Important Choices in Chapter 8
There are no choices you need to worry about in Chapter 7, but there are a few of them in Chapter 8 to ensure everyone lives. Players will also now be aware that Josh is not dead, and there is still a chance for everyone to survive until dawn — including Josh. Players will find themselves underground as Emily.
This is the most action focused requirement so far. The player will be attacked by the cannibalism-born Wendigo, and need to shoot all the circles to get Chris back to the cabin safely. If they fail to do so, Chris will die. However, once Chris is safely back in the cabin, the following scene will have one of these circles on Emily — you must not shoot Emily.
Important Choices in Chapter 9
You will play a lengthy portion of Mike, then switch over to the other group to make a choice as Ashley. Choose the right option of Reassure. Ashley will then become separated from the rest of the group and begin to hear Jess screaming for help — this is not Jess, you are at risk of losing Ashley. You will have the option to Investigate Voice, as well as Rejoin Group. Both can have Ashley come out alive, but choosing to investigate has the possibility of her dying. However, there is a Totem to collect on the route of Investigate Voice. Players who wish to ensure survival should choose Rejoin Group just to be safe.
Important Choices in Chapter 10
For the final, and arguably most terrifying, Chapter, there are plenty of choices to Hide moments in this chapter. Always select to Hide when these come up. This includes when Matt and Jess will need to Hide Together once the game switches over to them after the scene where Mike and Sam find Josh. In addition to these hiding moments, players will now have the option to include Josh as one of the characters they save, a feature not present in the original Until Dawn game.
Mike and Sam will jump into a body of water. Follow along the left wall until you find a prompt to climb up onto a ledge. Investigate to the left to find a journal left by Hannah. If Mike mentions the area is sloping up again, turn around because you have missed the journal. Mike only says this while on the story progression path.
The final scene of the game will put Mike at risk, and have Sam able to Run or Save Mike. Make the choice to Save Mike to ensure they both make it out alive. Follow these key points, and everyone will survive. However, Josh might not survive in the way you’d expect without collecting all the game’s clues. Players will then be greeted with the final cutscene of the game, which hints at a sequel entry in the story.
