Warner Bros Montréal reportedly hit with staff cuts

Warner Bros Montréal has reportedly been affected by an unspecified number of layoffs.

Several former employees shared on LinkedIn that their roles were made redundant last Friday (March 13) across various disciplines, including narrative, design, and production.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted WB Montréal for comment.

WB Montréal is known for developing Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins. The studio also co-developed the cancelled Wonder Woman game with Monolith Productions, which closed last year.

In 2024, WB Montréal announced layoffs affecting 99 employees.

The latest reported cuts followed the ongoing acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Netflix initially agreed to acquire the media giant in December for $82.7 billion, but Paramount Skydance outbid the streaming service last month.

In response, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos stated that Paramount’s deal is ” dependent on a lot of cost-cutting.”

He suggested that WB’s game division, including WB Studios, Rocksteady, TT Games, Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Portkey Games, and mobile studios, would be impacted.

WB’s recent financial results provided limited insight into its games division, aside from noting it’s currently “rebuilding” its portfolio.

The firm’s Studios segment, which includes gaming, declined 14% year over year.
