Microsoft has announced a second price increase for Xbox Series X|S consoles in the United States, rising from between $20 to $70 across its hardware range.

The retail price increase will start from October 3, 2025 “due to changes in the macroeconomic environment,” Microsoft stated in a blog post.

Prices for controllers and headsets will remain the same.

“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration,” the firm said.

“Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players.”

Here are the latest price changes for Xbox hardware:

  • Xbox Series S 512GB – $399.99 (up from $379.99)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB – $449.99 (up from $429.99)
  • Xbox Series X Digital – $599.99 (up from $549.99)
  • Xbox Series X – $649.99 (up from $599.99)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition – $799.99 (up from $729.99)

Back in May, Microsoft announced global price rises for Xbox hardware and software, which included a $100 increase for the Xbox Series X in the US.

At the time, the firm said the changes were due to “market conditions and the rising cost of development.”

GamesIndustry.biz’s Rob Fahey recently explored the ongoing issues with console pricing, following concerns raised by Capcom’s president Haruhiro Tsujimoto on how the lack of price cutting is affecting mass-market franchises.
