Italian game company Digital Bros. has bought the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers intellectual property rights.

The parent company of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ publisher 505 Games, Digital Bros. purchased the IP rights from developer Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd for around $4.6 million. This secures “full ownership” of the soulslike action RPG and all future royalties.

IP rights allow a person or company to patent, trademark, or copyright protect something they’ve created, even if it’s an intangible asset, like the story or a particular mechanic in a video game. From there, they can release media like books, games, TV shows, and so on, safe in the knowledge that others cannot copy or recycle them without permission.

Digital Bros. said Wuchang: Fallen Feathers demonstrates “strong commercial traction” after its release last year, confirming the game had sold over 1 million units since July 2025, generating “more than [$35.1] million in revenue.” It believes the IP will “enhance the Group’s ability to make timely decisions regarding its future development and related investments” and forms part of its commitment to expanding its market share of fully-owned games franchises.

While the name Digital Bros. may not sound familiar to you, you might have played a game published by its subsidiary, 505 Games. It has published or distributed the likes of Terraria, Dead by Daylight, and the PC and Xbox releases of Death Stranding. It also previously owned the IP rights to Control, but sold them back to developer Remedy Entertainment in 2024.

As for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? The purchase should shore up the franchise for at least the short- and medium-term, if not longer. It returned a ‘Great’ 8/10 when IGN reviewed it on release.
