Amazon is testing the ability to play game demos through Twitch.

As noted by games journalist Zac Bussey, the feature was being tested with a 20-minute demo of Tarsier Studios’ Reanimal.

Bussey demonstrated launching the demo directly on Twitch instead of downloading it from Steam.

After the demo loads, a timer appears. When time expires, users are prompted to visit the game’s Steam page.

Bussey believes Reanimal is the first game tested and that it uses “some kind of cloud-based access in order to play the game” through a feature called Game Lift.

He also stated that the demo is “primarily intended as an ad product.”

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted AWS for details on additional games, pricing, and plans for a broader rollout.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) originally launched its paid service GameLift for “deploying, operating, and scaling session-based multiplayer games” in 2016.

It then launched Amazon GameLift Streams cloud gaming service in March 2025 and expanded it to six new regions in January 2026.

The service allows streaming games at up to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second to any device with a browser.
