Cyan Worlds has confirmed a new title in the Myst franchise is now in early development.

Co-heads Hannah Gamiel and Eric Anderson made the announcement during the studio’s annual State of the Union address at the Mysterium fan convention on July 26, disclosing that a previously unseen prototype was pitched to publishers before ultimately being shelved.

Codenamed Project Anglerfish, the prototype was built in 2024 and 2025. While the project ultimately stalled, Cyan has released the teaser trailer publicly.

The reveal was part of a wider “Paths Not (yet) Taken” segment covering other unreleased or reworked concepts developed over the past two decades, including early design work for Obduction predating its eventual release, and projects referred to as Lyft and DiSC.

Looking ahead, Cyan has confirmed a new Myst-universe title – codenamed Mudfish – is in early development, although no release window or platform details were given.

The studio also outlined a physical-media push for its back catalogue: physical editions of its Myst and Riven remakes are coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, with console versions shipping on disc and PC copies including a digital code.

Cyan is also reissuing deluxe physical editions of three Myst-universe tie-in novels, The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti’ana, and The Book of D’ni, originally published roughly three decades ago.
