Deltarune Chapter 5 Release Date Revealed

Deltarune Chapter 5 finally has a release date, and Undertale mastermind Toby Fox has used the opportunity to give fans a progress update on Chapter 6.

The yearlong wait for more from the lead developer’s parallel story RPG finally came to an end when it showed up for today’s June 2026 Nintendo Direct. The reveal came with a release date of June 24, 2026, promising to launch the fifth major update for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in just 15 days.

It’s been a little more than one year since Chapter 4 launched, so Fox made sure to make the wait worth it with a 46-second video that showed just enough while saving some of the best moments for full release. You can see the teaser footage in the Deltarune Chapter 5 trailer below.

Immediately following Deltarune’s Nintendo Direct cameo, Fox took to his newsletter to share a little bit more behind-the-scenes info. After a quick apology for the wait, he explained the trailer itself was made by artist Everdraed, with its music performed and arranged by Carlos “insaneintherain” Eiene. Animator, developer, and Undertale’s Temmie, Temmie Chang, handled the lovely art featured at the end of the trailer.

“In Chapter 4, we saw dark clouds on the horizon… That’s why, let’s not look there for now,” Fox said when describing Deltarune Chapter 5. “Let’s turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely. Let’s smile again. Let’s have one more fun adventure, okay?”

“In my opinion, it fits well in the overall story of the game,” he continued.

With the next chapter just weeks away, Fox is ready to offer a progress update on Chapter 6. He said it’s “developing well,” explaining there’s been good progress on things like cutscenes and NPC interactions. Fox even went as far as to say that “this Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast.”

“This sounds crazy, but it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year,” Fox added.

As Deltarune Chapter 5 prepares to launch and work on Chapter 6 progresses smoothly, the wait for the seventh and final chapter may not be quite as long as some believed. In the meantime, you can read IGN’s 9/10 review of its first few chapters. You can also catch up on everything else announced at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct.
