Xbox and Discord have announced a partnership offering a “starter edition” of Game Pass to Nitro subscribers.
The starter edition provides access to a library of over 50 PC and console games, including Stardew Valley, Grounded, Hades, Fallout 4, and Doom Eternal, plus ten hours of cloud gaming.
Nitro pricing will remain unchanged for subscribers, with the Game Pass starter edition included.
Eligible Game Pass subscribers will also receive Discord Nitro benefits starting later this month. These include 250 Discord Orbs per month, 1.2 times more Orbs for completing Quests, and automatic Discord Shop discounts.
“As we hit Nitro’s 10-year anniversary, we’re launching Nitro Rewards, a brand-new benefits program built with some of the biggest names in gaming,” said Discord senior director of product Lu Zhang.
“It gives Nitro members access to gaming services and gear that matter most to players, with ongoing partnerships that extend beyond Discord and into how you play, for as long as you’re a member.”
This new version of Game Pass follows last month’s announcement by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma regarding price reductions for the top tier of its subscription service.
Game Pass Ultimate dropped from $29.99 to $22.99 per month, and PC Game Pass fell from $16.49 to $13.99. However, this does not fully reverse the 50% price increase that Xbox implemented last October.
In a message to staff, Sharma stated that Xbox would “evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system, which will take time to test and learn around.”
Last week, Sharma announced that development for Gaming Copilot will end on consoles and, eventually, on mobile devices.
This follows Sharma’s ongoing rebrand of Xbox, which includes strengthening Game Pass with a sustainable financial model.
