Gamecity Hamburg has selected five digital games to receive up to €80,000 each in non-repayable grants from its latest Prototype Funding Round.

This funding enables Hamburg-based studios and developers to create market-ready prototypes. Applications for the next round open in September 2026.

The funded projects include:

  • Horror puzzle adventure Manor Cartographer (Pipapo Games) – €80,000
  • Roguelike deck-builder Odem (Odd Zeroes) – €80,000
  • Narrative survival horror Welken (Studio Gutheil) – €60,000
  • Horror simulation Ungradable: Twisted Card Grading (Chasmic Drop Studio) – €48,000
  • Murder mystery adventure Wrong Horse (Bird Outside Studio) – €40,000

Pipapo Games, Chasmic Drop, and Bird Outside previously participated in Gamecity Hamburg’s Games Lift Incubator.

The Games Lift Incubator supports five teams, developers, and startups in developing games and preparing them for market launch.

Program recipients receive €15,000 in funding, along with coaching, mentorship, workshops, and individual support. Applications for the Games Lift Incubator are open until June 1, 2026.

A select awarding committee chose the five games to receive up to €80,000 in funding. The committee includes:

  • Nina Müller (VP of Publishing & Development Services, Goodgame Studios)
  • Jonas Hüsges (COO, Daedalic Entertainment)
  • Valentina Birke (Director of Indie Arena Booth/Super Crowd Entertainment)
  • Karsten Schwaiger (Head of the Media and Digital Economy Department at the City of Hamburg’s Ministry of Culture and Media)
  • Dennis Schoubye (Head of Gamecity Hamburg)

“The awarding committee received many very good and several outstanding applications in this funding round,” said Schoubye.

“We are looking forward to offering a second funding round this fall; more details will be announced shortly on Gamecity’s channels.”
